Neh 8:8 — “So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.”
God does not rush truth to distracted minds. Before transformation comes attention. Scripture shows that revelation is written so it can be looked at—examined carefully, not skimmed emotionally. Many errors in life are not caused by the absence of God’s Word, but by the neglect of it. What you fail to read clearly, you will misinterpret painfully.
To compose yourself is to bring your inner world into order before responding to God’s instruction. Stillness is not passivity; it is spiritual intelligence. A restless heart distorts meaning, but a settled spirit receives clarity. God speaks most precisely when the soul is quiet enough to listen. Revelation flows best into a disciplined, composed mind.
To read is more than to see words—it is to submit to truth with the intention to obey. Understanding births responsibility. The Word of God is not given merely to inform us, but to form us. When Scripture is read rightly, it produces wisdom, restraint, direction, and obedience. Destiny responds to those who pause long enough to understand what God has already written.
