Isa 54:1 ¶ Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
The barren woman is being commanded to sing. The woman is used figuratively to represent the church. We are the Bride of Christ who is the Head of the church. Singing is a behavior that communicates feelings of joy and celebration. It is an act of praise in thanksgiving. It allows one to feel uplifted and pleased.
The barren woman was covered with shame and disgrace by her condition.
Though the current situation may be that of desolation and unproductivity, Sing! The lord is turning the situation. God is about to lavish you with His unmerited favor and your shame will be rolled away. You will trade your sorrows for the joy of the Lord.
Charge your atmosphere with a shouts of praise and thanks giving for the Lord your God has remembered you.
As you do so ,you declare the majesty of our king who makes a way where there is no way. He changes a desert and makes it flow with streams.
