Pro 19:11 The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and it is to his glory to overlook a transgression.
Slowness to anger and a forgiving spirit are true marks of a noble soul. A man who cannot bear the reproach of the poor, flimsy and paltry fellows will always find himself at the ” boiling” point. One must choose what to pay attention to and what to disregard.
Whereas it is commonly looked upon as a piece of ingenuity to apprehend an affront quickly, it is hereby made a man’s glory to pass over a transgression; to appear as if he did not see it.
Discretion teaches us to differ our anger; to differ the admission of it till we have thoroughly considered all the merits of the provocations. We have to ensure that there is no danger of running into any indecency or a set trap ( Plato)
