2Sa 10:3 And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?
David sent a friendly embassy to Hanun king of Ammonites after the death of king Nahash his father. However , the Ammonites arrogant malice would not allow them to see the simplicity of David’s heart. Hanun seized David’s men, shaved off half of each man’s beards and cut off their garments at the middle of the buttocks.( 2Sa 10:4). They were greatly humiliated.
As believers , we should not be grounded when we discover that we are not what we have always thought we were to our colleagues, employees, employers, siblings, church members , leaders etc. . People will always form an opinion about us. But for so long as our motives are clear, we should not fear being misunderstood. We must not withhold doing good and pleasing God. Jesus too was grossly misunderstood.
