Mrk 14:3 While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.
Majority of perfumes come with expensive ,unique and catchty vessels that attracts the buyer. But the full sweetness and aroma of any fragrance can be felt only after opening the carrier vessel .Without doing so ,little or none of its value can be detected.
This woman had accumulated very costly fragrant oil which she anointed Jesus with at Bethany . she didn’t value the alabaster jar but rather went on to break it to pour out the expensive oil.
Our bodies are valuable alabasters but not as expensive as the precious spikenard they contain.
We can unleash the sweetest aroma to God by offering our bodies as true and living sacrifices to the one who died for us.This can be done by breaking all hindrances that hold us from serving God whole heartedly and sacrificially.
