Joh 2:17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.”
This was a great statement of Jesus life. Jesus clearing of the temple reminded the disciples the words in Psalm 69:9. The first century Jews expected the messiah to purge and reconstitute the temple. Jesus was passionately concerned about the activities and purity of God’s house.
Wickedness cannot withstand the presence of zealous believers who are enthusiastic, unflagging and serving God wholeheartedly. Christians ought to be very zealous in their service to God. We should be passionate in our praises, study of the word of God, worship and in good works.
We should have extraordinary concern for the temple of our God and ensure that our worship is pure and such as God would approve. Matters to do with our faith in God must be number one in our priority list. Let the zeal of His house consume us.
