Luk 12:19 ‘And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ‘
Luk 12:20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
It is an exercise in futility to spend time and energy laying up treasures upon the earth and at the same time neglecting to be rich towards God in faith and in good works. Thinking that all that is valuable in life is eating, drinking and making merry was a miscalculation for the rich man. He forgot that he had an intellect to be cultivated, a heart to be purified and a soul to be saved.
This man thought that he was secure until God came and demanded his life from him. Mat 6:32, ” Seek ye first the kingdom of God and it’s righteousness and all other things will be added unto you” .Mrk 8:36 “What will benefit a man even if he gains the whole world and loses his life”
Planning to succeed without involving God is tragic. He is the author and the giver of life. He can do without us but we cannot do without Him.
