Mt 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Jesus, our great teacher, taught us on the effectiveness of praying in secret. His personal prayers were done regularly and in a secluded place as highlighted in Mark 1:35 – Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Some of the most effective prayers are not the ones done in public or corporate but the ones done in secret for the Father sees the activity of secret prayer and rewards us.
The language of private prayer is usually simple, sincere, not out to impress anyone with eloquence of speech as in public prayer but an honest feeling of the heart. Sometimes it is not even expressed in words but the Lord sees the desires of our hearts.
During this season of social and physical separation, let us take advantage of locking ourselves into our closets and pray individually and as families.
This is a time when the Lord wants to restore our lives, mend our relationships and strengthen our family bonds all at the altar of private prayers.
