Mar 2:21 “No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse.
Mar 2:22 “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
Wineskins were made from soft pliable goatskins. Old wineskins that had already been used to ferment wine lost their elasticity, became brittle and could burst if used again resulting in the loss of the container and the new wine.( Holman Study Bible, NKJV Edition)
Both sayings emphasized the intriguing challenges of integrating Jesus teachings ( the new) with the religious structures and practices of the traditional Judaism. (The old)
A total paradigm shift was a must.
Likewise, the current season ushers in a totally different way of doing things in our places of worship. This includes and not limited to altar ministry, the way we give our tithes and offerings, ( Embracing cashless platforms), sitting arrangements, benedictions etc
There is also a paradigm shift in our places of work, the way of doing business ( leveraging on the internet of things) , the dressing, interactions etc. In the new dispensation, believers must come out strongly and set the pace. If we have to remain relevant, we must embrace the new .We serve the unchanging God in changing times.
