Habakkuk 3:17-19 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord , I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
The verses nervously paints the desolate state of the land of Judea during the captivity. Although evil was in the land and unavoidable, he submitted to the dispensation of God. When all the provisions seems to have been cut off, he still triumphed in God.
There are many reasons why Christians lose track and stop following the savior especially during hard times. The situation described by Habakkuk is being experienced by many in the world today. No jobs,no income, crushing economy and others.
In such situations marred with despair and confusion ,we are encouraged to remain joyful and rejoice in the Lord for he owns the barren and unproductive figs ,olives, sheep and cattle . He is able to bring them into bearing fruits again.
He will give us strength to tread on all those seemingly perilous situations .He will provide strong shoes for rocky grounds and cause us to be swift in our spiritual race and outrun all our troubles.
