Exo 12:2 “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Having stayed in Egypt for four hundred and thirty years, their exit was now at hand. The month of Abib was to be considered as the commencement of the year. They were no longer required to begin the year in September but in the month of March.
Abib was to be the head or the chief of months; to them , it was the first month of the year. This was the month which they were supposed to celebrate the Passover. As they celebrated the Passover, they were supposed to have packed their belonging in readiness for their departure. In the month of Abib, God brought them out of Egypt by night!
As it was for the Israelites, this could be the time for new beginning. Things might have been rough for quite a while. God is more than willing to give us a fresh start. This is our “season of Abib”- a time of new beginning.
