Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Communication is termed complete when feedback is offered. But the required objectives may fail to be met if the response is seasoned with rudeness, harshness, sarcasm and anger. This can be as a result of provoking part of the question.
A gentle and meek answer is an antidote of provoking question. Meekness is not weakness but controlled strength. It cools red hot burning face, calms the indignant raised tone and melts the furious raging words.
Showing restraint is a good and wise thing! We are very wise when we choose not to blow up an argument. When we choose to answer gently and with wisdom, we will find God often diffusing a situation that easily could have climaxed as a major blow up between us and our friend . Choose gentleness to quell the storm.
By our human effort we might fail to tame our tongue but by meditating on God’s word and praying we derive strength to keep channeling words that edify.
