John 14:1-2
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
The disciples had been greatly distressed at what Jesus had said about leaving them. They were about to part with their beloved friend. They were to be left alone to meet persecutions and trials. They did not have any wealth, friends or honour. They felt that their hopes were dashed making their hearts to be troubled.
Jesus offered them a remedy to cure their concern by encouraging them to trust in God and in Him. Their future concerns was also secured for their “homelessness” was not an issue to worry.
Living in fear of the unknown grips many people today. Unpredictable future , pain ,unstable world ,worry ,fear, pandemics etc are ingredients of a troubled heart. Our consolation in all these is found in our faith and trust in God. Believing in God and believing in Christ go together. We believe that for so long as our God is on the throne, all shall be well.
