Act 8:1 … At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
Act 8:4 Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.
Our life’s journey is always on the danger of being disrupted. Disruption sometimes gets us by surprise. The unwelcome or unexpected break disrupts our daily schedules, activities, our way of life, our prayer programs etc. Although these disruptions are caused by factors out of our control, they work for our good.
After killing Stephen, the leaders of the Jews grew bolder and they decided to seize other believers. A great persecution arose against the church in Jerusalem and they were all scattered through out the region of Judea and Samaria. Saul made havoc of the church by dragging men and women and committing them to prison. But those who were scattered, went everywhere preaching the gospel. Although they were disrupted, they were not destroyed.
We have witnessed major disruptions that have threatened to destroy the very fabric that holds us together. Jobs and business have been lost, programmes have been disrupted and uncertainty has become the order of the day. These disruptions will not destroy us but will make us grow stronger in our faith. What is meant for our harm will work for our good!
