1Sa 18:10 And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house. So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul’s hand..1Sa 18:11 And Saul cast the spear, for he said, “I will pin David to the wall with it.” But David escaped his presence twice.
David’s success in killing Goliath and great exploits when fighting the Philistines was not celebrated by the king. David had become the darling of his country. As they came from war, the woman who received them sang ” Saul has killed his thousands, David has killed his ten thousands “. This made Saul hate him and sought to kill him. ( 1Sa18:7,8)
And so it happened that Saul was prophesying in his house. An evil spirit was permitted by God to seize him again and David was there playing the stringed instrument(harp) as in other days in order to compose and quiet his disturbed spirits. Unexpectedly, Saul brandished the javelin that was in his hands with the intention of pinning David against the wall but David miraculously escaped.
Satan will come up with schemes aimed at bringing you down. The good news is that ” No weapon forged against you will prevail and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me, declares the Lord ” ( Isa 54:17)
