Jos 10:13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.
Adoni-Zedek, the king of Jerusalem had heard about Joshua’s victory against Ai. He also got the information that Gibeon had signed a peace treaty with Israel. Gibeon’s defection threatened Jerusalem’s trade and contact with the north as well as with the east and west. He therefore mobilized five kings who attacked Gibeon.
Gibeon appealed to Joshua for support. Joshua and his army marched the whole night and caught the enemies by surprise. The Lord routed them before Israel and killed them with a great slaughter. The Lord cast down great hailstones from heaven and killed many more. That day, Joshua addressed the sun and the moon to stand still until the people had revenged upon their enemies and the sun and the moon obeyed.
When the supernatural God takes charge, all the natural laws give way. The creator of heaven and earth can rain hailstones even when there are no clouds and can prolong the day and the night as he wishes. He can create a way where there is none and cause water to flow in the desert. God is sovereign over time, history and nature. May you receive a supernatural visitation this season in Jesus name!
