Heb 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
We fancy and cheer our athletes as they compete in different races. Our eyes are always glued to our Television sets and big mounted screens so that we catch up with every move on the track. One thing you cannot fail to note is an athlete who is dressed in the wrong attire. Any competitor wearing wrong shoes, heavy dressing and wrong head gear is unlikely to make any impact.
Christian life is compared to a race which has a finishing line. The runners have to take off all unnecessary clothing. We must throw off everything that ensnares in order to run with endurance. We must throw off every unnecessary weight; unbelief , doubts, pessimism, toxic relationships etc and the sin that so easily entangles.
In the race of our Christian lives, everyone who finishes gets the same prize – eternal life. However, it is important for us to shed off anything and everything that inhibits our progress. Let us run the race set before us with patience looking at Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
