Jos 1:2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them–the children of Israel.
Jos 1:3 “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.
” A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step ” is a Chinese motivational proverb that expresses deep insight about determination and avoiding procrastination. It basically means that a person must begin his journey in order to reach their God given destination.
Joshua’s responsibility was enormous. His first responsibility was to ensure that the Israelites crossed over Jordan during the flooding season. Then he was to conquer and clear all the communities that had settled in the promised land .This was not going to take a single day; it was going to take sometimes. Deu 7:22 “And the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you little by little; you will be unable to destroy them at once lest the beasts of the field become too numerous for you.
Christian friends, faith is what enables us to start the journey – this could be salvation, business, a project, a relationship, a course – and it is what keeps us going one step at a time. Sometimes it is hard to see where you are going. The good news is that God will provide everything we will need along the way.
