1Sa 21:12 Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
1Sa 21:13 So he changed his behavior before them, feigned madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard.
A snare is a lure or a trap. Fishermen sometimes uses snares to catch fish. Hunters use various types of snares to trap game. Satan uses snares to trap human beings. One of those snares is the fear of man ( Got Questions) The fear of man can be physical or psychological.
David run from king Saul who was pursuing him to the camp of Achish king of Gath where he hoped to remain undiscovered. Unfortunately, the servants of Achish discovered his presence in their midst and brought him before the king.
Being very apprehensive of the danger that was at hand, David feigned madness. In order to appear harmless before the king and his subjects, he started roaming all over as he scratched the doors and the gates. That was not all, he allowed the foam that comes from the mouth of a madman hang about his beard.
God has a way out for his people who are in danger and facing various challenges . The fear of man sets us on the road to foolishness. It replaces biblical convictions of who we are with a desire to be viewed by the world to be the person we are not. *Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. Psa 56:11 In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
