Psa 130:1 Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD;
Psa 130:2 LORD, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications.
Psa 130:3 If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?
Psa 130:4 But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.
This is one of the Psalms of ascent. The songs were designed for pilgrimage processions to celebrate seasonal feasts in Jerusalem. The songs may have been sung along the way or on the fifteen steps leading to the temple( Holman Study Bible, NKJV Edition)
This is one of the Psalms that speaks of the deepest desires and hopes of the faithful follower as he/she prepares to meet with Yahweh in the sanctuary. There are problems , sins and disappointments . The worshipper cries to his/ her only hope; Yahweh. In his response , Yahweh hears and forgives because he is merciful and does not mark our iniquities.
Oh! That believers would learn the secret of not only crying out to the Lord but offloading everything to him . Isn’t it exciting that we can offload all our disappointments, heartaches, headaches and worries to him and in their place receive forgiveness, mercy and relief? Let’s learn to take everything to God in prayer.
