Exo 15:24. Then the people complained and turned against Moses. βWhat are we going to drink?β they demanded.
To grumble is to complain about something in a bad – tempered way . Israel, a God chosen nation was delivered from the land of captivity. God heard their cry and sent deliverance through His servant Moses and his brother Aaron. The Israelites saw what God did for them in Egypt. They witnessed God’s mighty works in the Red Sea. Having witnessed all these, they came into the wilderness. Soon, they forgot how God rescued them from Egypt. They grumbled because of water.
Exodus 16:1 … In the wilderness of sin , the people murmured again . As they encountered danger, shortages and inconvenience, they complained bitterly and longed to be back to Egypt. The gracious God again provided for their needs . In the times we are living in are full of stressors and a lot of inconveniences. In such times, complaining is a natural response. The Israelites didn’t really want to be back in Egypt, they wanted their cravings met..
When pressure comes our way, let us resist the temptation of grumbling . Instead, we should focus on God’s power and wisdom to help us deal with the course of the stress. God is very gracious and when we appreciate Him for what He has done, even the momentarily situations will be fixed in Jesus Name. Imagine God was aware that Israelites needed water and food in the wilderness but was only testing their obedience.
Let us not fall into the same trap as they did and a good number of them perished in the wilderness.
