Joshua 15:14 Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak from there: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
Jos 15:16 And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.” Jos 15:17 So Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.
In accordance to the Lord’s command, Joshua blessed Caleb and gave him Hebron as an inheritance. Hebron was a hill country and was the location of the giants who had terrified the Israelites spies. Caleb wanted the challenge of driving them out and he believed God would help him.
Caleb successfully drove out from there the three sons of Anak- Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai. Now it was time to go against the inhabitants of Debir formerly called Kiriath – Sepher. And in order to achieve his objective, Caleb made a thrilling offer : ” The one who attacks Kiriath – Sepher and captures it I will give him Achsah my daughter as a wife”. And Othniel , the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother captured it and so Caleb gave him Achsah his daughter as a wife!
Christian friends, isn’t it amazing when we witness God accomplishing in our lives what many may consider unsurmountable ? It’s not only exciting but thrilling to experience the joy of the Lord as he takes us from one step to the next and from glory to glory. Our current state is not our conclusion . Where we are today is not where we will be tomorrow. The best is yet to come!
