Col 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
While addressing the Colossian church on work ethics, Paul encouraged them to give their best with minimal supervision. He exhorted the servants to obey their earthly masters , not only when their eye is on them so as to carry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord (col 3:22).
It’s normally the behaviour of many workmen to be sluggish ,unconcerned and careless with their duties especially when their seniors and supervisors are out of sight. Lack of dexterity, keenness and not giving the best is displayed by the product of their work. When assignments are given ,majority settle for the lighter while others complain of being misused or overused .
Christians ought not to emulate such. Contrary, giving and doing the best in whatever we do should be our trademark. When we do such ,we are investing and depositing rewards in our heavenly account managed by the senior most payroll manager and in due time we will withdraw the inheritance.
Giving the best may be toilsome and demotivating but ultimately it pays best!
