Acts 9:39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
Dorcas, “the widow’s designer ” is dead. Her customers surrounded her holding evidence of her fine knighting prowess. We have no record of any words that Dorcas said ,though she obviously said many good things. But it was her deeds she was remembered for. We have no records of her writing . It was her life that made an impact (city life church)
Everyone has a desire to do something meaningful with their life ; to make a difference, to have a sense of worth and value and to be someone significant. The good news is that God has created each one of us for a specific purpose. True joy and fulfilment is found in discovering that purpose and then pursuing it passionately. For that is what will matter most after we leave.
What sort of legacy will you leave? “Our primary legacy ” will be the people we are influencing now for Christ. These are people who will remain to do the work of God’s kingdom after we are gone . How will people remember you? Will your memory be similar to that of Dorcas – hard to erase causing “widows” to sob and cry ? Most importantly, will you leave behind a legacy of faith? Live in such a way that your mark will be indelible.
