2 Co 11:13-15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
For there to exist a fake currency note, there has to be the genuine one which sets the standard. We donโt have a fake Kshs 5000 note, because the real one does not exist. The genuine type is only one, be it in currency, electronics, personalities… but there are many varieties of counterfeits .
Just the way Satan may appear as an angel of light, so false apostles may have a โgoodโ appearance . Paul was showing the Corinthians how foolish it is to rely on image and outward appearances. If Satan were to appear before a human audience, they would be strongly tempted to worship him as a creature of almost divine beauty. It is so easy for all people, including Christians, to be taken in by image and outward appearances.
From the reports we continue to receive on a daily basis, Paul’s teaching to the Corinthians is still applicable today. Jesus has already pre-infomed us on how to identify the real from the counterfeit. The Bible openly declares that we shall know them by their fruit. As Christians, it is important to have the Spirit of discernment to enable as to know them and expose their works of darkness.
