1Sa 17:34-36 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock,I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. “Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.”
David narrates his experiences to King Saul in an attempt to convince him that he was more than prepared for the current assignment. The assignment at hand was facing Goliath. This one man was so huge and intimidating that whenever he appeared the whole of the Israelites army was dismayed and terrified.
David explained to king that once when he was taking care of his father’s sheep he killed a lion and a bear. He confronted the ferocious animals, delivered the livestock from their mouths and when they rose against him, he caught them by their beard , struck and killed them . To David, Goliath was just like anyone of them and for sure, he did exactly that. 1sam 17:32… Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine, your servant will go and fight him.
