Gen 41:35-36
They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food. This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine “.
In his dream,Pharaoh saw years of abundance in form of Seven fat cows and Seven heads of grain, healthy and good, growing on a single stalk. He also saw years of scarcity inform of ugly gout cows and thin scorched grains .Upon enquiry,Joseph interpreted the dream and gave a way forward to deal with impending hunger .Excess harvest during years of abundance were to be collected and stored to cater for the years of scarcity .
Its worth noting that as seedtime and harvest exist,abundance and scarcity are antagonists . They will ever exist in every individuals lifespan. There is abundance and scarcity of different ” grains and cows” .This includes and not limited to time,resources, opportunities,harvest ,income etc. The wise and the prudent knows how to manage and make use of every abundance that comes their way with fore knowledge that scarcity may knock any time.
Unfortunately , eating up and squandering everything that comes our way is a guarantee of a terrible scarcity during the hour of need. As Pharaoh put it “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God”? May our nation, families,institutions, ministries , organizations and the corporate world be endowed with such prudent men and women.
