Mat 19:29 “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit everlasting life.
This happened on the way to Jerusalem. Peter , as usual, stepped forward and told the Lord that they had left everything in order to follow him. The biggest question was what would be their gain for doing so.
Jesus was making it clear to them that following him was not going to be an easy path. It would involve losses and sacrifices. But it also involves the promise of rewards to those who were faithful to follow him along that hard path ( Bethany Bible Church 16-12-2007). Jesus categorically told them ” .. everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for my namesake, shall receive a hundred fold, and inherit eternal life”
In the kingdom , there will always be losses and gains. Your faith and commitment to God will automatically alienate you from some people, some engagements, some cravings and even some activities that generate income. But the gains will be far much more than the losses – a hundred fold plus eternal life! Whatever God is offering you is better than what you may be refusing to let go!
