2Sa 23:20- 22 Benaiah was the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man from Kabzeel, who had done many deeds. He had killed two lion-like heroes of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day. And he killed an Egyptian, a spectacular man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand; so he went down to him with a staff, wrested the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear. These things Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did, and won a name among three mighty men.
It is Lucius Annaeus Seneca who said that ” Its a rough road that leads to greatness ” . The road to greatness is not an easy and smooth route. There are obstacles along the way which helps make you stronger as you pass through them. The greatest of the world endured with the ability to push themselves through this bumpy road of struggles to reach their goal and beyond.( motivate.com)
Although Benaiah was not among the top three David’s mighty men ( Josheb, Eleazar and Shammar) he still worn a name among the three and David appointed him over his guard. He is credited as being valiant, killing two lion – like men of Moab, killing a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day and killing a spectacular Egyptian after wrestling the spear out of his hand and used it to kill him. That’s how Benaiah made it to the top- the commanding officer of the King’s guard.
For you to get to the hall of fame, you must know that the road to greatness is rough and only the most resilient get there. The good news is that God has availed all the resources you need – spiritual, human, social and financial – to help you attain your God given destiny. ” Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit” ( Napoleon Hill). You have a seed of greatness in you!
