1 Chr 10:13 So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance.
Saul was the first man selected to become monarchial ruler of Israel. He was a military leader who led Israel in battles against their enemies. God would bring them victory and they would triumph over their enemies. Their victory depended on their obedience to God.
Saul’s great ruination was earned by his disobedience to God. He failed to follow and obey God’s instruction. He delved deep when he overstepped his boundary and performed priestly duties when Prophet Samuel seemed to delay . This netted his score card down as he was rejected by God.
He seemed not to have learnt his mistake as he consulted mediums instead of inquiring from the lord who had previously led him defeat Israel’s enemies in battles . This warranted him a death penalty as he perished in battle and died a death of shame as he fell on his sword saving himself from the enemies demeaning him . We ought to learn from Saul and be faithful to God as we engage in our life battles which He will fight for us.
