Heb 11:31 By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.
Rahab’s inclusion in the Faith Hall of Fame with the likes of Moses,Joshua Elijah, Apostles and others, is remarkable. Considering her unconventional background as a Gentile and her profession as a harlot, added layers of complexity . Two men gathering intelligence on the city of Jericho before initiating the siege, sought refuge in her house.Though the nature of her behavior would have suggested potential customers, she bravely concealed them and cunningly deceived the inhabitants, that the two men had taken a different path.
Rahab displayed incredible courage and decisive choice to stand for God and turn against evil of her own and her people. Rahab’s faith was resolute as she firmly planted herself with the Lord, regardless of how the world reacted. She expressed her unwavering belief and said to the two men,” I know that God has given you this land. Please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family because I have shown kindness to you.” -(Dream city church)
As dwellers of this earthly city, we are often faced with dilemma; seeking popularity and celebrity with the world or aligning ourselves with the Lord . Embracing a life dedicated to Christ can demand making choices that go against the prevailing culture and behaviors of our equals and peers. It is during these moments that we may find ourselves standing alone, seemingly on the wrong side of history. Like Paul and Rahab ,You can choose fame for shame and appear on God’s wall of heroes!
