Gen 12:1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your kindred and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. Gen 12:2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.
God gave Abram a one – verb command with four aspects to it. Abram was to get himself 1) out of his country 2) Away from his family 3) Away from his Father’s house 4) To a land chosen by God. So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him.
Obedience to God often means leaving one thing in order to receive something else even better. ( Holman Study Bible – NKJV) Abram did away with the ” status quo”. He did not ask for the details pertaining the length of the journey, the occupants of the land etc. The only thing he knew was that He who called him was faithful and would not mislead him.
When we obey the voice of God , we stop existing and start living. We move away from the predictive boring routines to exciting and adventurers divine heights. When we obey , we enjoy every day’s life because our father cannot mislead us.
