1Co 6:12,13 “Everything is permissible for me” – but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me ” – but I will not be mastered by anything. Food is for the stomach and the stomach for food ” – but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord , and the Lord for the body.
Emotional self control is the ability to remain calm and clear headed when dealing with emotional issues that have a potential to derail one. Intense feelings of passion and longing for foods and drinks may not be grounded in reality. These are issues that can bring imaginative power majoring on how fantastic they can be if you engaged in them .. When dealing with such, one should be aware that the ” grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence”.
Failure to keep the emotional fantasy balanced can lead to a catastrophic end. Paul addressed issues to do with food and sex. Over indulgence in matters to do with foods and drinks have its own known challenges. Sexual immorality has brought down the high and mighty and has reduced many to a ” loaf of bread” ( Pro 6:26).
We should always endeavor to keep our emotional fantasy balanced. We have an obligation of not making decisions that will impact on our future negatively . As we engage and indulge, we should remember that “Jesus is the reason for the season”. Not everything permissible is beneficial.
