Some things must come to an end for others to begin. Nothing in this world lasts for ever. Even the so called good things comes to an end. Great success also comes to a natural end. God turns his hearers attention to a new thing. What God was going to do was more profound that what he had done before. He was now going to create not a way in the sea ( V 16) but a road in the wilderness. The future deliverance is pictured as a reversal of nature with rivers in the desert .The animals that live there will be pleased. God’s people who have been oppressed by the Babylonians will find new freedom( V 20,21) – (Holman * Study Bible, New King James Version .)*
The only permanent thing in this life is change. We must be prepared to handle sudden changes that come knocking. One good thing about endings is that they are followed by new beginnings .Some things have to end for better things to start. Behold our God is doing a new thing! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
