1Ki 18:44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.
The Israelites had gone through a trying time of famine. But after the prophets of Baal were eliminated and the Israelites came back to God , Elijah told Ahab to go eat and drink because there was “a sound of abundance of rain” (1Ki18:41). For six times, there was nothing to show that it would rain. It was not until the seventh time when a cloud, as small as a man’s hand was seen rising on the horizon. The three and a half years famine was coming to an end!
Robert Schuller said “tough times don’t last but tough people do.” .
This means that people who can get through tough times are good enough to handle anything. Together, the two parts of the quote remind us that while difficulties are short-lived, people are enduring . Strong people can persevere, and you can persevere in the face of whatever you may have to face.
Behold there “is a little cloud out of the sea like a man’s hands.” The current situation is not permanent . Our God has released the copping grace to enable us go through the tough times. There is some light at the end of the tunnel; A cloud is rising. Soon and very soon, we shall be receiving the showers of blessings.
