Luk 23:18-21,25 But the whole crowd shouted, “Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!” (Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.) Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again. But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!” He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
Miracles were at their disposal; He healed their sick, raised their dead, delivered their demon possessed, calmed their hunger on the mountain . When he was taken on trial ,one would have thought that Jesus would have been set free . Contrary, a thug, murderer and prison convict Barabbas won the ovation of the day ; they all requested for his acquittal . However, his lack of Congregational support did not derail Jesus mission to save humanity
After giving our all to different areas of service ,it’s human to thirst for recognition and a pat on the back. But sad to say ,at times , its quenched by bitter gall of rejection, naysayers stab and climaxed by ‘crucifixion ‘. This may happen when a poorly rendered service receives a “Barabbas ululations ” and enthusiastic applause.
Learning from our master and chief mentor, may this never derail you from your focus ,mission and vision. “Head high, brother ,the heavens are at your recognition. Cheer up,beyond the crucifix, stands a permanent recognition .”… he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord…” ( Phi 2:8-11)
