Mark 8:24-25
[24]And he looked up and said, I see people, but [they look] like trees, walking.
[25]Then He put His hands on his eyes again; and the man looked intently [that is, fixed his eyes on definite objects], and he was restored and saw everything distinctly [even what was at a distance].
A mirage is something that appears to be real, something we can put our trust in, yet itโs really only an optical illusion. We could spend a lifetime chasing for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow when the truth is itโs not even there. And, just because something appears to sparkle, does not mean it is the genuine article . (Joan Emery)
At Bethsaida, the blind man received a touch from Jesus. The man needed to see. At the first touch he saw but his sight was deluded. There was a need for the Lord to remedy the distorted vision thus Jesus put His hands on his eyes again. It was not only important for the man to see but to have an accurate sight. Accuracy of sight is important in our lives less we walk in error.
Spiritual mirage hampers our spiritual growth and insight causing us to stumble. At this perilous times we can pursue ambitions, dreams, and careers from an optical illusion point of view. This will yield to deception as we would be chasing after a lie. The illusions hinder us from finding our purpose in life. A right perspective is crucial for every pursuit that we engage in. We need clear vision like that of an eagle and be able to soar high in life. Mapping out a clear vision is essential for every believer to live an effective life.
