Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
In simple terms , to conform is to fit into someone else’s mould and do things the way they have always been done. On the other hand, to transform means to “change the condition, function, nature, character or personality ” of something for the better ( Shawn S – Linkedin)
The first step towards transformation is to challenge your thinking system. Believers should experience a progressive transformation of their lives by the renewing of our minds. The mind is changed by prayer, by reading and reflecting on God’s word, and by meditation on God’s acts as the Holy Spirit works in us (Holman Study Bible – NKJV Pg 1914)
It is apparent that it is impossible for one to solve today’s challenges by doing same things and expecting different results. There must be a paradigm shift in a our thought system for us to be able to effectively bring meaningful changes in our sphere of influence. A conformist is afraid to be different and feels the need to be like any other while a transformed person has the courage to say no to what does not work.
