Jer 30:17 For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “this is Zion; no one seeks her.” ‘
The scar is a mark that remains after the tissue has healed. They are hurts and wounds of yesterday and the moment they heal they may leave either a physical or an emotional mark. The most important thing about them is that they proof that healing has taken place.
Israel’s wounds were beyond human help. So great was the fall and the whole land was left dilapidated and in a sorry state as a result of the Babylonian captivity. People were wounded physically, emotionally and spiritually. Nevertheless, Jeremiah was able to see in the distant future the restoration and healing of the nation. God was going to restore them and heal their wounds.
Scars are a lingering reminder of what we have gone through in the past and what we have become as a result. Everyone of us has been hurt as a result of betrayal, fraud, broken promises, crushed establishments, mistreatment and loss. But our God will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds. People will see and know that only the hand of the Lord can do this.
