2Kgs.4.3-6 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few…6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
In the above text, a certain woman had a cry to prophet Elisha. The woman’s husband was dead. Despite having feared God, this man left some debts and the creditors were coming to take her two sons to be slaves. In Deut 15, poor people and debtors were allowed to pay their debts by selling themselves or their children as slaves.
The man of God asked her to go and borrow as many vessels from her neighbours as she could get. Then she had to lock herself and her sons in the room and pour the little oil in the borrowed jars. The woman and her sons obeyed and did as per the instructions. It is the woman’s level of faith in terms of the vessels collected that dictated the oil’s provision. God’s well never diminishes.
When the day was done, every vessel was filled to the full. Please note that there was no limit on the amount of oil. The only limit was on the mount of the available vessels. God’s provision knew no limits in the widow’s case and it knows no limits in your case. God is able to to meet every need, and solve every problem. This provision is limited by nothing but by our faith. God stands ready to give all that you make room for in your life, no more no less (Allan carr).
