2 Kings 7:19, 20 Then that officer had answered the man of God, and said, “Now look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could such a thing be?”And he had said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”And so it happened to him, for the people trampled him in the gate, and he died.
The word “supernatural” means that which is “above, beyond, and far higher and greater than the natural.” God is supernatural. It simply means departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature. The supernatural occurrences may not be explained by science or the laws of nature; they can only be attributed to the supernatural God.
There was a great famine in Samaria. Ben-Hadad, the king of Syria had gathered all his army and besieged Samaria. They besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver and one – fourth of the kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver. In the midst of this background, the man of Elisha sent a message of hope “Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.
The officer whose hand the king leaned on talked himself out of God’s miraculous supply. For sure he saw it, but did not partake of it. Words have the power and ability to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to provide . Unfortunately, many believers are unaware of the spiritual consequences of words that come out of their mouths. We serve a supernatural God and he is not limited on ways and means of meeting the needs of his people. Don’t talk yourself out of it.
