Exo2:15, 17 Now when Pharaoh heard about this matter, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh to stay in the land of Midian. And he sat down by a well.
and the shepherds came and drove them away. But Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
Moses had just fled from Egypt after killing an Egyptian who was mistreating a Hebrew. He found himself in the wilderness, a place of desolation and uncertainty. This was a desert experience, both physically and spiritually—a time of transition and fear. The desert in our lives represents those moments of hardship, confusion, and trials where we feel lost or abandoned. We may find ourselves in a “desert” when we face challenges that leave us drained, discouraged, or distant from God.
Moses went and paused at the oasis- a desert region, usually having a spring or well.Pausing in the desert represents staying in a place of negativity, fear, and despair. It’s when we allow our difficult circumstances to define us, rather than seeking God’s guidance and trusting in His provision. We must be careful not to dwell in the desert—mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. Instead, we should seek God’s oasis in every situation, where we can find hope, encouragement, and a renewed sense of purpose.
God’s oases are places where He prepares us for the next phase of our journey. They are not the final destination, but places where God equips, strengthens, and provides for us so that we are ready to move forward in His plan.We must trust that in every pause, God is at work, preparing us for what lies ahead. Whether we are aware of it or not, God is using these moments to shape us, to align us with His will, and to equip us for future challenges and opportunities.
