Luk 10:30 (NKJV) βThen Jesus answered and said: βA certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.ββ
Life can resemble this parableβunpredictable and painful. There are times when we are stripped of our strength, beaten by trials, and left barely holding on. Yet, this story isnβt about defeat. Itβs about hope. Just as the Samaritan arrived in time, so does God. Often, His help comes through unexpected people. βMany are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them allβ (Psalm 34:19).
The wounded man couldnβt help himselfβbut grace found him. Likewise, when we are weak, Godβs power steps in. βWhile we were still sinners, Christ died for usβ (Romans 5:8). Sometimes God allows our strength to fail so His strength can be seen. As Paul heard from God, βMy grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weaknessβ (2 Co12:9).
This truth moves us to action. The Samaritan didnβt just feel pityβhe helped. We are called to do the same. Your wounds donβt disqualify you; they prepare you to lift others. What stripped you will not define you. What beat you will not bury you. God is still your healer. You may be down, but you are never out when He is near.
