“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” (Ecc. 9:10).
Opportunity is not always delivered at our doorstep; sometimes it must be cultivated through faith, discipline, and persistence. God’s promises are sure, but He often requires us to prepare a vessel before He pours in the oil (2 Kings 4:3–4). A closed door is not always denial; sometimes it is an invitation to carve out a new entrance by courage and vision.
Philosopher Francis Bacon wrote, “A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.” Noah did not wait for the flood to reveal opportunity—he built the ark long before the rain fell. Likewise, Joseph in Egypt created systems of storage in times of plenty to seize opportunity in times of famine (Gen. 41:48–49). Faith without initiative stagnates, but faith with works opens paths where none existed before (James 2:17).
Jesus declared, “Knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matt. 7:7). But when no door is before you, faith dares to build one. Paul, chained in prison, did not despair; instead, he wrote letters that became eternal doors of revelation for generations. Opportunity may not always arrive, but by the wisdom of God and the labor of faith, we can build doors that history itself cannot close.
