Matt 5:14 (NKJV) βYou are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.β
Jesus speaks these words to remind His followers of their visible calling. A city built on a hill stands in full viewβwhether it wants attention or not. In the same way, believers are placed by God where their lives are meant to be seen. Faith was never designed to be private or concealed; it is meant to shine through character, conduct, and conviction in a dark world.
Light does not announce itself; it simply shines. When we live according to Christβs teachings, our lives naturally expose darkness and provide direction. Hiding our faith through compromise, fear, or silence contradicts our identity. Jesus does not say we should become lightβHe says we are light. Our responsibility is not to create brightness, but to remove whatever covers it.
This truth calls us to intentional living. A city on a hill does not move to be noticed; it is established firmly in its place. Likewise, believers must remain rooted in truth, love, and righteousness. When we live authentically for Christ, our influence becomes unavoidable. God uses visible faith to draw others to Himself, proving that a life grounded in Him can never truly be hidden.
