Psalms 42:1-2 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Panting and thirsting are common to the deer especially after hot pursuit by the predators. David used this analogy to describes his situation .But his thirst was not for the water but for the living God.
God is the giver of life and controller of all pools and water gates. Yearning for Him is the best a Christian can desire. He not only knows the exact desire we have for Him, but He goes ahead and quenches the thirst making us flourish like trees planted by the rivers.
