Neh4:2, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish–stones that are burned?”. Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “Whatever they build, if even a fox goes up on it, he will break down their stone wall.”<\/p>\n
These statements were given by Sanballat and Tobiah. Their intention was to mock , annoy and discourage the Jews who were rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem. The Jews were described as ” feeble” meaning miserable or even pathetic. Tobiah asserts that the wall was so inferior that even small weights ( a fox) would collapse it.<\/p>\n
Their enemies reproached and ridiculed their undertaking but they did not heed to them. They prayed and went on with their work<\/p>\n
Friends, we still have Tobias and Sanballats in our days. They specialize in fault finding, mockery , annoying and discouraging. They will never succeed in their missions. We are too blessed to be discouraged . Good work will always attract opposition. Like Nehemiah, do not heed to their scoffs.<\/p>\n
