Jeremiah 8:21\u202d-\u202c22
\nSince my people are crushed, I am crushed; I mourn, and horror grips me. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?<\/p>\n
Through Jeremiah the prophet, the Lord laments for Jerusalem, a city with a special place in his heart. The symptoms of their sickness included falsehood, covetousness, idolatry and immorality. Soon the rival city of Babylon would fall upon Jerusalem and destroy it. According to the prophet, the best drugs and physicians were readily available at Gilead but contrastingly, there was no health improvement recorded. <\/p>\n
Presence of advanced health sector , stocked with drugs and skilled personnel is a desire of many .These assures that their physical health is taken care of. But the decision to seek medical attention solely lies with the victim whose health is deteriorating. <\/p>\n
Just as they could go to Gilead to see the doctor and get the balm to heal the sores upon their bodies ,so we can go to the best physician in the spiritual Gilead (heaven) who has the best drugs with active ingredient to heal our spiritual ,physical ,emotional, social and mental illnesses. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering. He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed .<\/p>\n
