The meaning of his name was Pain. As it is today, people often thought that having a negative name would produce negative consequences in a person&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p>Jabez prayed a personal prayer asking God for his blessings. He wanted God to enlarge his territory, he wanted God&#8217;s hand to be with him, and he wanted God to keep him from evil so that he would not cause harm to others. And God granted him what he requested.<\/p>\n<p>Jabez prayer is an example for us in it&#8217;s honesty and fervency. The earth and everything in it belongs to our God. A thousand cattle on a thousand hills belong to him. Silver and gold are also his.
