Mat 26:69-74 Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. \u201cYou also were with Jesus of Galilee,\u201d she said. But he denied it before them all. \u201cI don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about,\u201d he said .<\/p>\n
Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome .It is at this moment when his devotion to Christ was put to test. Two servant girls and an onlooker accused Peter of being an ally of Jesus.<\/p>\n
Peter strongly denied his allegiance to Christ to a point of swearing and hailing curses upon his accusers. This was contrary to his initial declaration, \u201c Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you ”
\n(Matt 26:35) Many a times we accuse apostle Peter of his triple denial of Christ and wonder why he did it after a spectacular experience with Christ.<\/p>\n
It is at our deepest moment of sifting that the underlying chaff of denial is laid open. Our confession of Christ is deep rooted and stable as long as trials are at bay. But oftenly when faced with resistance,temptations and trials ,we shake to the core and cowardly withdraw our testimonies of who Christ is in our lives. May our knowledge and experience of Christ be stable in us such that our allegiance won’t be questioned in hour of trial.<\/p>\n
